Bringing Groups to the Cherokee Mine

Nonprofit Organizations
Groups must be registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations and must script their own educational programs. Your group coordinator promotes the program internally, and handles registration, travel, directors and support staff. The Cherokee Mine supplements your program by furnishing the aid of its gem mining equipment, expertise and facility resources, and provides the added educational components of instructing the group on mineral identification, geology and history of the gem mining trade in western North Carolina. Our flume line can accommodate 100+ people, but groups of all sizes are welcome at our facility. Reservations are typically made on a year-to year basis with first choice of dates going to returning groups. Please contact us today for more information about bringing a group to The Cherokee Ruby Mine, as we are currently scheduling our 2008 program calendar.

If you are just interested in finding something neat, I would recommend one of the salted places. It takes less time and you'll find something, but won't be worth much. True rockhounds go to places like Cherokee to find only native gems and minerals.  Mark L - Herndon, VA
